  • Stetson is a Junior at Los Alamos High School and is the New Mexico High School Rodeo 24-25 Steer Wrestling Reserve Champion. He also competed in tie-down roping, finishing in the top 10; light rifle, finishing in 5th place, in team roping as a heeler and trap shooting. Stetson will compete in the steer wrestling competition in Rock Springs.
  • Teagan is a Freshman at Los Alamos High School and is the New Mexico High School Rodeo Goat Tying third place finisher. She also competed in team roping as a heeler. Teagan will be competing in the goat tying competition in Rock Springs.
  • Reed is a Freshman at Los Alamos High School and is the New Mexico High School Rodeo Steer Wrestling third place finisher. He also competed light rifle, finishing in 6th place, in team roping as a header and trap shooting. Reed will compete in the steer wrestling competition in Rock Springs.

Sisters Wacey and Teagan and brothers Stetson and Reed, all cousins, will proudly represent Rio Arriba County on Team New Mexico at the National event. Contestants must place in the top four spots at their state level to become a national qualifier. Featuring more than 1,800 contestants from 44 states, five Canadian Provinces, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Guatemala, the NHSFR is the world's largest rodeo. In addition to competing for more than $150,000 in prizes and over $200,000 in added money, NHSFR contestants will also be competing for more than $375,000 in college scholarships and the chance to be named an NHSFR World Champion. To earn this title, contestants must finish in the top 20 – based on their combined times/scores in the first two rounds – to advance to Saturday evening’s final round. World champions will then be determined based on their three-round combined times/scores.

Again, this year, the Saturday championship performance will be televised nationally as a part of the Cinch Highschool Rodeo Tour telecast series. LIVE broadcasts of each NHSFR performance will air online at www.thecowboychannel.com. Performance times begin @ 7pm on July 13th and competition continues daily at 9am and 7pm through July 19th. Make sure to catch the action!

Along with great rodeo competition and the chance to meet new friends from around the world, NHSFR contestants have the opportunity to enjoy volleyball, contestant dances, family-oriented activities, church services sponsored by Golden Spur Ministries, and shopping at the NHSFR tradeshow.

Congratulations and good luck to the Trujillos in Wyoming!
